Around 4:45pm on Tuesday I received the long awaited news: I was accepted to be a high school chemistry teacher in Newark, New Jersey. My immediate feelings were of complete shock. My head was swimming. Can I really pick up my enitre life and relocate to a part of the country I had never been before? Can I really pass all of the required exams and interviews to actually get a job? Can I actually make an impact on the lives of young high school students in a city battered and bruised by poverty, violence, drugs and the like?
As a couple of days have now passed, my mind is a little more clear. I know that my foundation rests not on where I live physically or what friends and family I have, but in the knowledge that God has made me into the person I am today and that He goes before me into any endeavor that He has laid for me. There is a security and excitment that comes with knowing how closely He guides my steps, no matter how challenging they are.
My hope for this blog is that it would help me to put on paper the experiences that I have while training/testing/moving/teaching/visiting all the new sights/whatever else I may encounter in these next couple of years! I’m looking forward to posting pictures and blurbs about daily life and this new adventure!
Enjoy!

I think that this is a fabulous opportunity for you!! I have also been doing alot of thinking lately about the possibility of packing up and moving across the country. The truth is: life is about taking risks and making big decisions, and although it’s scary, its also really exciting. If it feels right, do it

Congrats! (I’ll miss you in spin!)

Hey, it’s been a while, but I must say reading that post was really an encouragement to me here, reminding me that God knew every difficulty I would face before I set foot here in Peru.

Go for it! You only live once and then you die. So live and live BIG. You will be challenged and it might be hard but in the end you will learn a ton and depend on God so much. We believe that God will use you to change lives! Love you Rebbeca my first friend in duluth…besides John Blake….

Hello! I am a first year corps member in Saint Louis. Honestly, the relocating is the easy part! Don’t worry too much about that. Hopefully your region will do everything possible to make it a smooth transition. If you’ve made it through the TFA interviews there will never be anything that will be challenging, so YES you will be able to make it through the schools interviews.
You can always read my blog to learn more. I’m a 3rd grade teacher which presents challenges much different from high school science, but we’re all in this together.
